The world keeps surprising me after all. On my never ending quest to find footage of dances from “the old days” (also known as before I was born) , I had chanced to get a hint from Dudley Laufman that WGBH’s kid’s show “ZOOM” had come to film a part of one of his dances since Sarah Bauhan was on as a guest, I set off to find it. I wrote to WBGH and they directed me to their archive. Cue me spending time fast-forwarding through about 20 episodes of ZOOM trying to find a 3 minute clip. I found it, however, due to my stubbornness and lack of concern for my poor eyes staring that intensely at a screen. This segment features Sarah Bauhan, Bob McQuillen, and Dudley Laufman (calling the dance featured). If anyone can identify anyone else I would love to know who else to list.

Here it is!!

This has to be one of my favorite bits of archival footage taken in the 1960s. Dudley Laufman was the caller at this dance. If I can find out the names of the other musicians I will list them here. Note: About halfway through the audio is no longer in sync with the video. You’ll notice the dancers dancing Petronella and the calls being for Washington Quickstep.
